Influenza epidemics sweep reservations and boarding schools
The U.S. government is unresponsive to the health crisis in Arizona, New Mexico, and Rocky Mountain region and offers little medical assistance, in part due to Indian Health Service funds diverted to the cause of the Great War. Commissioner Sells does not take any steps to ask for money or to check on communities as the epidemic rages (Nies, 1996).
